Research Scientist Positions in Plant Systems Biology Group
One or two postdoctoral scientist, assistant professor or associate professor positions are available now in the Plant Systems Biology research group (http://www.picb.ac.cn/PSB/) at the Partner Institute of Computational Biology (PICB). Microalgae fuel based biofuel production has the potential to play a major role in the future energy production. The Plant Systems Biology group starts a collaborative project with the Boeing Company to systematically analyze the potential of algae based biofuel production in the future. The project will focus on developing an integrated modeling framework to support life cycle analysis and design of algae based biofuel production systems. The models and supporting algorithms from this project will not only enable us to conduct accurate life cycle analysis of algae based biofuel production, but also help identify bottlenecks of the current bio-fuel production, and optimal designs to increase biofuel production in the future.
The particular research tops include:
* The integrated systems model, including algae metabolism, regulation, growth, interaction with environment etc.
* Algorithm development to support the platform for life cycle analysis, sensitivity analysis, optimization of algae based biofuel production.
* A database to support the life cycle analysis using the platform.
* An online research, development and education hub for algae based bioenergy.
Candidates are expected to have strong expertise in system biology, computational biology, engineering, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, and statistics, or other field with strong emphasis on modeling and optimization or numerical analysis. Candidates with multiple areas of expertise are preferred. Demonstrated excellence in past research and publication is required. The candidate is expected to organize a working group related to modeling algae metabolism, growth, and related issues to support decision making in algae based bioenergy production. Therefore, candidates with demonstrated ability to organize a coherent research team or with good team spirit are highly preferred. Our group is highly internationalized and the official working language in the lab is English; so fluency in spoken and written English is required.
If you are interested, please e-mail Ms YuJing Sun (mapkk*163.com) an application including your research interests/plans, resume, contact information for two references, and reprints of two representative publications. The position will be open until qualified candidate(s) are identified.
