M.S/PhD Program Course Timetable

Winter Semesters (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th) start in September and end in January.
Summer Semesters (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th,10th) start in March and end in June.

	Choose two laboratories(or research group) for rotations, complete the rotations and reports (each rotation lasts three months)	Give oral or written report after completing the rotation
	Take the required graduate courses	Pass the exams
The Second Semester	Complete lab(research group) selection	student and advisor sign the mutual-selection form	Advisors
	Complete the required graduate courses	Obtain at least 36 credits
	Prepare to select Ph. D. thesis topic
The Third Semester	Present Ph. D. thesis proposal	Give oral presentation or written report	Advisors
	Work on thesis
	Set up Thesis Committee	Consists of 3 graduate advisors (including own advisor)
The Fourth Semester	Mid-term review//Qualifying exam.	Student needs to present his/her work to the Thesis Committee. Upon passing the mid-term review, the student officially enters the Ph.D. part of the program.	Thesis Committee
The Fifth to Eighth Semester	Continue to work on Ph.D. thesis		Advisors

Graduation Period	Finish thesis draft, submit it to the Thesis Committee for review; revise thesis	Advisor should review thesis thoroughly and give suggestions	Advisors

	Degree thesis defense
	Degree Evaluation Committee meetings in Feb. and June
