Research
I work on the application of analytical, numerical and simulation
methods to problems in
soft matter physics. I particularly enjoy problems that are relevant to
or inspired by biology.
My current focus is on studying force propagation through proteins and
other biological materials. I am also interested in studying possible
parallels between the mechanical stability of proteins and jamming in
granular systems.
In the past I have dipped my toes into cold-gas quantum physics, ion
channel biophysics, galaxy cluster astronomy, polymer physics, colloid
science, droplet-droplet interactions, cantilever mechanics and
microswimmer hydrodynamics. One day I will choose a field and stick to
it... maybe.
