Linux System Administrator (head of IT team)

fulltime position available

CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB) is a research institution jointly supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the MaxPlanck Society of Germany. The institute is endeavored to build a platform for theoretical and experimental research, and explore key issues and educate
young scientists in the field of computational biology.

Our requirements:
· Strong Linux/Unix system administration skills, preferably also Mac OS
· Experience in Unix/Linux cluster management (grid engines, MPI, installation
of software for scientific computing)
· Ability to maintain and troubleshoot linux servers (including sendmail, DNS,
backup, firewall etc)

Your responsibilities as head of the institute's IT team will include:
· Administration and maintenance of a growing network of highlevel
computational facilities, including number crunchers and file servers
· Management of user accounts, system services, backup and archiving,
configuration of end user systems
· Setup and administration of a large linux cluster for parallel computing
